It is a little bit crazy what I’m going to share with you… It is not a “normal” story for a young woman. It is about a call, a conviction, and a life-changing challenge:
Now I´m 25 years old, but it all started three years ago, when I heard a testimony. She was a girl my age. We were face to face. She shared about her horrific past as a sex slave in the capital of my country, Mexico City. She told us how she was deceived at the age of 19 by a man who posed as her boyfriend, he even told her that his love for her was strong and true, and he wanted to go to live in the biggest city in Mexico with her. She fell in love. She fell into the trap. She was beaten and abused. She was exploited. She was sold almost 30 times a night. She became a sex slave.
The story ends in a really good way. She would escape and report to the authorities, and now she is a great voice of freedom in my nation. Her pimp is in jail. She ended her testimony by saying that during those two years of slavery she realized that there are thousands being treated and used as commodities, even babies, boys, girls, teenagers and women. That definitely broke my heart.
Since I was a little girl I was a fighter. I had so many things to fight for and protect. It could have been a silly fight with my siblings, with my parents during my teenage years, (please don't judge me, HA!) or with my friends. Thanks to God, I grew up in a loving family with parents who really encouraged me to do my best, to be my best, and to serve others the best way possible. Service is a way to show love to others. And honestly, my young and selfish mind couldn’t understand what came next in my life journey.
So, later in my own search for purpose, God spoke. And He spoke really loud and clear at that conference with a testimony of FREEDOM. Since that day, my life has been not the same. It is a really curious thing (in a good way) and challenging when you let God lead you. Of course my family and some friends freaked out when I told them that I was convinced that God was calling me to do something, to speak out, and to be an agent to abolish Human Trafficking… but nowadays they are helping and many have become a part of this!
Let me tell you that leaving your comfort zone and changing your own professional, emotional and “perfect” life plan is hard. It may seem crazy. It takes courage and humility. But I can tell you that I have never experienced something so full of life, purpose and heart, ever. Not because of me. No! But because we find true living by giving all we have; our time, knowledge, abilities, heart and will to the One who created us, the One who loves us and the One who knows past, future and present. That's JESUS.
The Bible says in 1 John 4:8 that “God is love," and that “whoever does not love does not know God.” This little verse inspires me. We have a God who IS love. Love serves others, doesn’t judge others, is kind, honors others, it is not self-seeking, always protects, always hopes and perseveres.
I know God, and for sure He knows me. He called me, He gave me this strong, crazy, and illogical conviction to step into action.
Dear friend, let me tell you something, now that I am older, I can see the reason God planted all of those character traits in me. When I was a little girl and a teenager, I used them for the wrong reasons. Now I can use them in following His plan, to be a freedom-fighter, to protect, and to realize how he qualifies the ones He calls. Please never forget that around you are thousands in need. So..
Now I work in an organization in Guadalajara, Mexico that fights Human Trafficking. I'm part of a great team and together, in just two years, we have provided information and prevention for almost 15,000 people in schools, universities, churches and institutions, etc. We are overwhelmed that we are making a change and impacting our nation, speaking FREEDOM, opening eyes and hearts to this problem and bringing HOPE. We as a team, believe that we are going to see a society free from all kinds of slavery, and that is a conviction that a God of love has put in our hearts.
I am also a part of a social enterprise named ELEGANTEES. We are a brand located in NYC, USA and founded by Katie Martinez. Our mission is to provide hope to overcomers of sex trafficking in Nepal through sewing. We help to provide a positive source of income that reinforces independence, a healthy self-image and confidence. Restoring lives one elegant tee at a time. We are in partnership with The Nepali Rescue Project, an organization that rescues over 20,000 Nepalis from Human Trafficking each year. We curate a sewing center to employ some of these survivors. No longer living in poverty, sewers provide for themselves and their family, no longer vulnerable to traffickers.
We are #FashionWithPurpose à Ethically sewn, reasonably priced and beautiful styles.
Now I am bringing this brand and mission to Mexico. My vision is to see a new consumer culture in fashion, people that buy fair trade clothing and of course support this great mission: Let freedom reign in every aspect, including the fashion industry.

I know God is already speaking to you, and maybe shaking some things up within you. What is He putting in your heart? How are you going to love others and most importantly, how are you going to take action? Love is calling out from everywhere for someone to help, to give, to share, to speak.
